Sightseeing in Rome can be an experience of a lifetime. Rome is known as one of

Rome, (the Eternal City), in the romantic atmosphere of years gone by. Some
include The Fountain of the Nayads, The Exhibition Palace, Piazza Venezia with
its Tomb to the Unknown Soldier and the Capitoline Hill. Take a glimpse at the
Imperial Roman Age and admire the Roman Forum, the Colosseum, the Arch of
Constantine and the Circus Maximus. Jump back into the Papal era, while driving
along the banks of the Tiber River, you'll see the Jewish Quarter complete with
synagogue and the Castel Sant?Angelo closeby that heralds as you approach St.
Peter?s. Set in the ancient Aurelian Walls that frame part of the Villa Borghese
park, you can see a couple of the most beautiful gateways in Rome. These
include, Porta Flaminia, where you can admire the Piazza del Popolo and Porta
Pinciana, through which you reach the famous Via Veneto symbol of ?la dolce
vita? in Rome. Stop at Piazza Navona to see Bernini?s beautiful Fountain of the
Four Rivers and the Trevi Fountain. It is said that if you throw a coin over
your shoulder into the water, you will be sure to return to Rome.
While
in Rome be sure to visit the best known amphitheatre in the world, the Roman
Colosseum. The Colosseum hosted large-scale spectacular games that included
gladiatorial combat, fights between animals, the killing of prisoners by
animals, and other executions, naval battles (naumachiae, via flooding the
arena) up until AD 81. It has been estimated that several hundreds of thousands
died in the Colosseum games.
From its abundant markets to its
neighborhood trattorias, dining in Rome is a feast for the senses. It's
restaurants are truly wonderful. Rome also has delicious street food, as well.
Small, closet-like storefront kitchens and street vendors offer a variety of
fabulous foods. Pizza slices, suppli' (a fried ball of rice, tomato sauce,
cheese and usually green peas) and, most amazing of all, roasted porchetta
(pork) sandwiches. You can buy "porta a via" (take it to go) and dine right in
front of one of your favorite sights in Rome. You'll pay very little for your
meal and have a truly Roman experience. If you like good italian food you won't
have any trouble finding it in Rome. Delicious spagetti, lasagna, pizza,
calzones, pasta e fagioli, antipasta, ravioli are all excellent choices for
dining while in Rome.
Rome's mild climate makes it a pleasant place to
visit year-round; however, spring and autumn are without doubt the best times to
visit, with mostly sunny skies and mild temperatures. During late autumn, the
month of November, Rome can be rainy. July and August are uncomfortably hot.
December through February, Rome experiences briskly cold weather, but never
dreary.
The unique appeal of Rome is that the entire city is a vast,
3,000-year-old, indoor-outdoor museum. In every quarter you'll find ancient
monuments, art treasures and timeless architecture in churches, galleries and
